KEYNOTES

13:30-13:50

Hybrid communication networks for an AI-driven world

Antonio Arcidiacono – Director of Technology & Innovation, European Broadcasting Union

As AI becomes embedded in everyday services and operates increasingly close to users rather than in distant data centres, communication networks must evolve from simply carrying data to ensuring continuous availability. This makes resilience and guaranteed service delivery more important than ever, underlining the continuing role of broadcast and satellite technologies as core components of future hybrid networks alongside terrestrial unicast systems, and leveraging AI inference at network edges.

13:50-14:10

From broadcast-standard hardware to user-centric software

Adde Granberg – Head of Innovation, SVT

The innovation lead for Sweden’s public television company asks what will happen to the broadcast industry – and to those who work in it – when the technology that once made broadcasters unique becomes accessible to everyone.

SPECIAL SESSION

14:10-14:30

Building an award-winning DVB-I app

The winner of the DVB-I UI Competition, Hyunmin Jeon shares how she approached the challenge, applying familiar streaming UX patterns, leveraging DVB-I metadata, and creating a polished Android app that impressed the jury.

LESSONS Learned from working with DVB-I

15:00-16:00

This session brings together practitioners who have been working on DVB-I projects and implementations to share experience-based lessons from working with the technology so far.

Ralph Edeine – Director D2C Platform & Advanced TV Solutions, Eutelsat

Eutelsat has played an active role in the development of DVB-I and was responsible for the first commercial deployment, applying the technology in its Sat.tv platform to deliver standardized service discovery, rich metadata, and EPG functionality for free-to-air satellite channels.

Gordon Maynard – Director, OnScreen Publishing

OnScreen Publishing, which provides a cloud-based metadata manager as well as client apps, has been involved with most of the trials and tests of DVB-I undertaken so far, as well as with the commercial deployment for Eutelsat’s Sat.tv platform.

Rainer Biehn – Technical Manager and Deputy Managing Director, bmt

As a pioneer in DVB-I, bmt is leading the DVB-I Project Office Germany and is contributing to the implementation profile and test cases. In addition, bmt is developing and operating its service list aggregation system EASY for Germany and other markets.

Salvatore Martino – Software Development & Test, Customer Team Leader, Kineton

Kineton has been a key enabler of DVB-I in Italy, supporting the national market trial by providing the Central Service Registry (CSR) tooling and by offering receiver validation/certification capabilities to ensure compliant DVB-I implementations across participating devices.

Nicholas Frame – Standardization Manager, TP Vision

TP Vision, which designs and manufactures TV sets for the Philips brand, has been supporting DVB-I through industry test and interoperability activities (including collaboration with DTG Testing on the DVB-I test suite) and by contributing technical expertise via leadership roles within DVB working groups.

Assessing the future role of 5G Broadcast

17:00-17:30

Our panel will look at where 5G Broadcast may – or may not – fit in the media distribution landscape over the coming decade. Drawing on input gathered from DVB World attendees ahead of the event, representatives of different parts of the ecosystem will discuss the technical, commercial, and regulatory factors shaping expectations for 5G Broadcast.

The aim is to address the questions and concerns most commonly raised, and to explore what would need to change for different future scenarios to emerge.

Markus Schneider – Head of Product Management, Media Broadcast

Thomas Stockhammer – Senior Director Technical Standards, Qualcomm

(Third panellist to be confirmed)

DVB-NIP in practice: deployments, Decisions and the road ahead

17:30-18:00

The satellite industry is taking its first bold steps into native IP delivery thanks to the availability of the DVB-NIP specification. But along with greater flexibility come new architectural and operational questions. Drawing on experience from one of the early deployments, this session will explore where DVB-NIP delivers clear value today, where challenges remain, and what would need to change for wider adoption.

Arnon Gueta – Manager, Solutions Engineering – Cloud & Media Platforms Services, SES

TBC – Inverto

(Additional speaker to be confirmed)

Quickfire talks (II)

18:00-18:20

A second set of five-minute quickfire talks highlighting current issues, emerging ideas, and potential future work for DVB. These talks will prepare the way for related unconference discussions the following day.

The line-up of quickfire talks will be announced in early February.
